ALL CHILDREN DESERVE A FAMILY THAT RESPECTS THEIR NEEDS, RIGHTS AND IDENTITY.
We cater to the Unique requirements of each & every child:
- Children who are medically fragile
- Sibling groups
- Children with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges
- Teens
- Children with challenging behaviors
- Teen moms
- Those who identify as LGBTQ
Every child deserves a warm and caring family environment.
LGBTQ foster youth frequently face harassment, victimization, stigma, or displacement from their homes due to their gender and sexual orientation. Consequently, they have a higher likelihood of encountering depression or trying to commit suicide compared to other youth within the child welfare system. Moreover, they have a decreased chance of being placed with a permanent, caring family in comparison to other children and youth in foster care.
- LGBTQ youth are highly overrepresented in foster care.
- 25-40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ.
Resource families, pivotal in nurturing environments conducive to the development of young individuals identifying as LGBTQ, play an indispensable role in facilitating the exploration and affirmation of their distinctive identities and talents, shielding them from the specters of rejection, shame, and humiliation.
