As of 2021, California has the highest number of foster care placements with 47,871 children currently in care, followed by Texas and Florida with 28,042 and 23,507, respectively. But other states like Minnesota, Illinois, Arizona and Missouri have a higher ratio of foster care placements to the state population.

Why we need foster care in Texas?

  • We need foster care due to the ever increasing number of abuse , neglected and miss place children needing homes
  • There are over 20,000 Texas Children waiting for foster or adoptive homes
  • In 2023 in the Dalles region there were over 18,000 investigations of reported child abuse 9000 of these were for neglect. last year half of the fatalities of children were linked to neglect.
  • When foster homes are not found these children or having to stay at child protective services (CPS) office on cots and /or siblings are being split up and place in separate foster homes are in residential treatment centers RTC’s
