The entrance of children into foster care occurs when their home environment becomes unsafe, with the ultimate goal of reuniting them with their biological family (commonly referred to as Reunification) or placing them under the care of relatives or trusted family friends at the earliest opportunity. The duration of their stay with a foster family may vary, spanning from mere days to weeks or even months, as diligent cps workers diligently search for suitable relatives. In certain instances, this period may extend until the judge’s final verdict, which typically transpires after a span of 12 or 18 months.
Some Foster Parents Become Forever Family

Our Foster Care Services

Our primary objective when children come into foster care is unequivocal: reuniting them with their biological families or placing them with relatives and close family acquaintances. Our dedicated team actively seeks out and evaluates suitable family members to facilitate this process.
In certain circumstances, when obstacles arise in the reunification process and no relatives are viable options, our foster parents may have the chance to offer a permanent home through adoption. We collaborate closely with families, social workers, and the legal system to ensure a nurturing and supportive environment for each and every child.
Foster Parent Pre-Screening Requirements
NorthWest Outreach Child Placing Agency, in its pursuit of excellence, shall meticulously evaluate the eligibility of all prospective foster parents before embarking on the esteemed home study process. Each foster family applicant shall dutifully furnish the agency with a comprehensive data collection form, which shall serve as the initial step in this discerning pre-screening procedure. The agency shall meticulously assess these applications, employing a set of stringent criteria to ensure only the most deserving candidates are considered.
- Must have high school diploma or G.E.D. and provide documentation of such. If no high school diploma or G.E.D. be able to pass a agency assessment.
- Must be at least 21 years of age as indicated on the copy of the birth certificate.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent residents, or other qualified aliens as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1641 (b)
- If married, marriage license must be provide. If divorced, a divorced degree must be provided.
- Must provide income statements demonstrating ability to care for youth with verifiable income that demonstrates earnings above established federal poverty line for family size.
- Must successfully complete required agency orientation.
Foster Parent Home Requirements
Applications must provide a luxurious abode with ample space to accommodate a child, ensuring privacy and adhering to the highest standards of licensing. Each bedroom must boast a minimum of 40 square feet per occupant, with a maximum of 4 occupants allowed. For single occupants, a lavish bedroom must offer at least 80 square feet of floor space. Every child is entitled to their own bed and storage area for their precious belongings.
- Applicants must provide utility bills to verify their address.
- Applicants must provide homeowners or rental insurances.
- Applicants must provide a floor plan of the home showing the dimensions and purpose of the home, identifying indoor area for children’s use photographs must accompany the floor plan.
- Applications must provide an approved fire inspection.
