Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
  • Knowledge of child welfare regulations and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with diverse individuals and families
  • Understanding and commitment to the mission and values of NorthWest Outreach Child Placing Agency
  • Must have reliable transportation, a Valid Texas drivers license
  • The Home Study Writer will be responsible for conducting comprehensive home studies for prospective foster parents, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and assessing the suitability of the home environment
  • Conduct thorough home visits and interviews with prospective foster parents
  • Assess the physical and emotional environment of the prospective foster home
  • Gather relevant information through interviews, background checks, and reference checks
  • Prepare detailed and accurate home study reports in accordance with organization guidelines and state regulations
  • Collaborate with social workers and other team members to gather additional information as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism throughout the home study process
  • Provide recommendations and feedback to the organization regarding the suitability of prospective foster parents
  • Stay informed about changes in relevant regulations and best practices related to foster care
